VOICES FOR CHILDREN

Voices for Children is a wonderful program that was started in 2003 to raise unrestricted funds for our programs and to spread our message in the community.  The event is free, will be one hour long and there will be no requirement that anyone give at the event. It will be our job to inspire people so that they will want to give. As much as anything, we want people to come and find out about the great work we do. Along with breakfast , the Meistersingers from Booker T. Washington High School will perform and we will have special speakers.

Details of the event are as follows:

Date:                      November 20, 2008
Time:                      7:30 am-8:30 am
Location:                The Rosewood Crescent Hotel – Gallery Ballroom
(400 Crescent Court, Dallas, Texas 75201)

Since 1993, the CAP Center has assisted more than 1,441 at-risk families and more than 3,579 children, without charge, through its “Parent Aide Mentor Program”. Clients are referred by Child Protective Services and the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center.  The CAP Center has also pioneered “Families First,” an innovative education program for divorcing parents and their minor children. More than 7,183 parents have learned skills for positive parenting during a divorce, while their children learn divorce is not their fault.

The CAP Center’s “Shaken Baby Syndrome” campaign has trained more than 617 childcare providers and 7,576 high school teens in the Metroplex.  In addition, more than 193 pregnant and parenting teens and their children in the highest poverty areas of Dallas, have participated in a variety of in-home prevention and training services offered by the CAP Center’s Dallas Healthy Families program.  The CAP Center receives no United Way, federal or state monies and relies on the community for support.  For more information, contact Jennifer Mullinax at 214.370.9810 or jmullinax@excap.org.
