Volunteer Opportunities

Families First Program  Families First volunteers are needed to work with the children of divorcing parents. Volunteers are trained in the Families First Children's Curriculum and work with children of varying ages to explore their feelings about the change in their lives. Training, interviews, and criminal background checks are required for this position. Volunteers must be able to attend an eight-hour training session and commit to working 5 Saturdays each year.
Shaken Baby Syndrome Education Volunteer Shaken Baby Syndrome Educators are trained to speak to middle school and high school students about the dangers of shaking babies. Other topics may include SIDS and Postpartum Depression. Training, interviews, and criminal background checks are required for this volunteer position. SBS educators volunteer four hours weekly as needs arise.
Diaper Drive/Safety Item Drive The CAP Center provides the surrounding community the opportunity to host donation drives as a service to our clients. Our clients struggle financially and this is one way we can help relieve their financial burden a little.  If you would like to host a donation drive, have questions regarding any donation drive or need to have the items picked up, please contact Heidi Parker at the CAP Center at either 214-370-9810 or hparker@excap.org.  Thank you for your support.
Adopt-a-Family During the holidays, CAP Center donors have the opportunity to adopt families who otherwise wouldn't be able to provide gifts for their children. We will provide updated "Wish Lists" from families in need beginning in late-October. Adopt-a-Family makes a great family or group project for people of all ages!
Special Events  The CAP Center hosts a variety of special events throughout the year including the Celebrity Waiter Gala, the CAP Center Classic Golf Tournament, and the Voices for Children Breakfast. Volunteers are needed periodically to participate on special event committees.
Board of Directors CAP Center, as a 501 c-3 is governed by a voluntary Board of Directors.  They provide leadership, guidance, and support to ensure the fiscal stability and growth of the Center.  Along with other duties, they are required to make a financial commitment to the Center.  For more information please contact Margaret Patterson, Executive Director,  at mpatterson@excap.org
