“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” – JFK
At this time of hope and giving thanks, the Child Abuse Prevention Center expresses our sincere gratitude for your constant support of clients like Ashley.
Ashley came to the CAP Center in August 2007 as a young mother in need of guidance and help. Her ability to overcome the many obstacles and challenges set forth in her young life has proven to be an inspiration to us all. Ashley is leaving the CAP Center as an amazing mother of two young boys with the confidence and tools to be a successful parent, wife, and mentor to others who find themselves in her shoes.
In Ashley’s words…
“I feel like I not only have a story to share with you, but I have a testimony. One that shows how much good this program did for me and can do for anyone who takes part in it.”
“…after meeting Ms. Amy and feeling her genuine kindness and willingness to help I felt comfortable sharing with her my feelings of frustration and stress being a first time mother. It was difficult to understand my baby’s emotions and to meet his needs.”
“I have learned so much from this program. I’m not only a good mom; I’m a great mom!”
“Coming from a very dysfunctional family myself, I feel like I have broken the cycle. I have learned to be patient…how to deal with different behaviors, teething, tantrums, eating, sleeping habits and so much more.”
“Whenever you need help, the CAP Center is there to guide you.”
“…the Child Abuse Prevention Center is a great place for moms to get help….”
Thanks to your support, the CAP Center provides wonderful counseling, education, resources and opportunities. You are the purveyor of hope to these at risk young parents. Through CAP Center services, these vulnerable young adults recognize how tough it is to raise a family, and they allow us to empower them to make positive choices.
We cannot let ourselves dwell on the stunning numbers of children and families who need our services. We must focus on the brave young mothers like Ashley, along with countless other families and children we have kept safe. Thank you for being a strong and loving “voice” for the children.
With hope and grateful thanksgiving,
Margaret M. Patterson, LCSW Executive Director
